The 2013 Competition Evening
This year we broke with tradition and had the competition and exhibition at No 28. This was a great success, however the venue is probably too small for the exhibition.
This view of the balcony gives a good idea of the standard of work and the layout of the pictures. However, only about ten percent of the pictures hung can be seen in this picture.
The artists below are all holding there own works after having won prizes in our annual competition.
Ken Spencer has over the years made a habit of winning something and this year is no exception.
This country gent is portrayed in Pastels and the detail is wonderful.
Pictures of the seaside and of boats always seem to do well in our competition. I have wondered if it is because we are so far from the sea.
I am delighted to Teressa win, she is a fine artist and seems to have a difficulty in accepting the fact. I am even more delighted she won with something outside her comfort zone.
Andy is no doubt one of our better artists and this picture clearly shows his eye and his patience.
Another new winner and yet again boats and water.
The 2011 Competition Evening
Every year we have a competition evening when we invite others to come look at our work. One of the most enjoyable and anticipated aspects of the evening is the vote for which of our art works stand out in a number of categories. Over the last few years we have added categories for digital/photographic works, to the more traditional categories of Oils/Acrylics, Water Colours, Pastels and Drawing. thus reflecting the changes in the art world in general.
You might recognise the picture above as the background behind the site. It was painted very recently as part of our exploration of textures.
